AIDS Empowerment and Treatment International (AIDSETI) is a network of 22 community-based associations founded and managed by people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in fourteen African and Caribbean countries. The combined membership of all 22 partners is close to one hundred thousand people. AIDSETI is based on the Association-Driven Care and Treatment (ADCT) model for HIV/AIDS and is managed by associations of people living with HIV/AIDS (APLWHA). ADCT operates according to the principles of co-production and participatory learning and promotes effective, sustainable and replicable health care initiatives. The goal of AIDSETI is to expand access to HIV/AIDS treatment in resource-poor countries by empowering APLWHA with the medical, financial and pharmaceutical resources necessary to run their own holistic HIV treatment programs based on the ADCT model for HIV/AIDS.

US Doctors For Africa (USDFA) has agreed to provide medical personnel to individual APLWHA in all fourteen countries. USDFA volunteer medical teams will educate and train APLWHA regional staff, while providing care and treatment of APLWHA members. USDFA collaborates with AIDSETI and individual APLWHA medical staff in the development of specialized health care initiatives compatible with the AIDSETI / ADCT model. USDFA believes that grassroots partnerships like AIDSETI provide a crucial link of local, national and international entities in cooperative action which help meet the challenges of the HIV/AIDS pandemic in resource scarce countries.

  • Burkina Faso

  • Cote d’Ivoire

  • Dominican Republic
